Walker Wood Foundation Bursaries are awarded to students who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

Other criteria upon which the Walker Wood Foundation bursaries are awarded include:

  • demonstrated leadership qualities;
  • high academic standing; and
  • good standing with the School and a commitment to training.

The two extremely deserving recipients of this year’s Walker Wood Bursaries are Morgyn Aronyk-Schell and Lucie Schmidt.

Morgyn Aronyk-Schell

Morgyn submitted a very thorough, thoughtful application. Her dedication to her craft and her investment in her training were evident in both her writing and in her excellent grades and evaluations from faculty.

“I fundamentally believe that art is so crucial to a healthy and happy life, community, and world. I would love more than anything to be able to continue dancing to bring the love and passion of the arts to as many people as possible. I really believe in art as a vehicle for change and I want to be a part of that change.”

Lucie Schmidt

Lucie Schmidt has outstanding grades and superb evaluations from faculty. As a dancer, she has exceptional technique and work ethic. Her application was honest, thoughtful, and forward-thinking, and she is clear and realistic about her plans for the future.

“I want to try to be like a sponge, soaking in as much as I possibly can learn and taking it forward with me. The challenge of the unknown can be scary, but the limitless possibilities presented within this challenge are incredible. I believe I am very fortunate to have the ability to enjoy something that brings me so much freedom of expression and movement each day.”
