May 2-4 & 9-11, 2019 | 8PM
The School of Toronto Dance Theatre presents MOMENTUM 2019, a main-stage performance of ensemble works, showcasing dancers from all three years of the Professional Training Program.
On May 2, 2019 join us at our Opening Night Fundraiser, in support of the School. The evening begins at 6:00 pm with a cocktail reception, and includes the full program of MOMENTUM 2019, along with an awards ceremony to recognize the accomplishments of our dancers, an exciting raffle and prizes, and a dessert reception and cash bar.
• First year students will present new dances by two of the School’s Resident Choreographers: a theatrical creation by Sharon B. Moore, challenging dancers to their dramatic and energetic extremes, and a powerful new piece by Julia Sasso, whose past work for the School has been riveting and action-packed.
• Second year students will perform a newly commissioned piece by Montreal-based choreographer Massimo Agostinelli, whose work is always highly physical and exhilarating. They will also perform one of Danny Grossman’s signature dances, National Spirit (1976), a rousing and satirical look at patriotism.
• Third year students will present a dynamic and visceral new piece by the exciting Toronto-based choreographer Hanna Kiel. Finally, they will dance in a remount of Christopher House’s exhilarating and eloquent Vena Cava (1998), with its wonderful score by Robert Moran.
