Given the evolving situation surrounding COVID-19 and the advice from public health officials regarding the need to maintain physical distance, our in-person Recreational Programs will continue to be suspended until further notice as we strategize how best to engage with our young and adult recreational dancers to provide programming while ensuring their health and well-being.

In the meantime, we are now offering an eight-class term of online (virtual) recreational dance classes from January 19 – March 9, 2021. Click here to REGISTER NOW!

Fundamentals of Dance I and II

Brand new to dance? Do you want to learn something new with others who have never taken a dance class? Our Fundamentals of Dance I and II classes are aimed at newcomers to dance, building on basic movement principles and progressing to more challenging exercises. These classes introduce integral concepts like body awareness, alignment, strength, flexibility, and endurance. Rooted in Graham technique, classes explore principles like contraction, release, and spiral.  Students are guided through the key principles of contemporary dance in relaxed and informative classes, which provide participants with a sound knowledge of basic technique, movement vocabulary, coordination, and confidence.

Fundamentals II goes beyond the basics to tackle more complex and challenging floor work, standing movement phrases, and travelling combinations, as well as to emphasize performance qualities and expression.

“I had the wonderful opportunity to pursue the Fundamentals of Contemporary Dance I this past winter! Though I’d had no background or experience with modern dance, I was made to feel welcome and at ease. The instructor showed patience and support, as well as great energy and enthusiasm, especially when it came to learning difficult dance steps.” – Don Cheff
