MODERN DANCE EXPRESSION

Although we can’t dance together in our usual ways at 80 Winchester again this term, we’ve decided to host a series of recreational dance classes both outdoors in a park (Sept 14 – Oct 19), and virtually from home (Oct 26 – Nov 30). Book one session, or both – the choice is yours!
Our adult recreational program of contemporary dance classes is designed for individuals who want to experience the joy of movement through contemporary dance. Classes are held on Tuesday evenings. They are suitable for dancers aged 16+, with any level of experience (including complete beginners), and offer you the chance to learn in a stimulating and supportive environment.
Focusing on use of breath, weight, energy, flexibility, and the thrill of jumping and moving through space, these classes include work based on the techniques of Martha Graham and José Limón, as well as other contemporary styles. Participants experience increased strength, flexibility, and endurance, as well as improved body awareness and self-confidence. Students learn from inspiring teachers and dance to live accompaniment.
We have three distinct class levels to best fit your movements experience:
- Fundamentals of Contemporary Dance I: for newcomers to dance
- Fundamentals of Contemporary Dance II: for those ready to go beyond the basics
- Contemporary Technique: for the intermediate/advanced dancer
