We are hiring for the position of Communications & Engagement Manager! Our ideal candidate has a passion for the arts, an interest in dance, and a minimum of three years experience ideally working within an arts and culture organization or equivalent. A background in communications, marketing, public relations, fundraising or similar is preferred. The candidate should instinctively understand the value in partnerships with other community organizations and all stakeholders invested in the School and are driven to grow those relationships for mutual benefit.

Working under the direction of the Managing Director, the Communications & Engagement Manager will contribute to the promotion of the School and provides support for the School’s programs in marketing, communications, outreach, and stakeholder relations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Communications and Marketing

  • Develops communications and marketing plans for all programs to drive awareness, sales and donations
  • Monitors and tracks box office revenue and sales in collaboration with the Managing Director and staff
  • Executes ongoing communications and marketing activities related to all programs including, but not limited to, writing copy, content creation, design coordination, and implementing and executing print and digital promotional materials
  • Coordinates the implementation and ongoing production of e-newsletters, showbills, and other publications
  • Manages all digital communications including, but not limited to, website, social networks, email, and print
  • Coordinates Front of House for all performances, including volunteer solicitation and training

Outreach and Stakeholder Relations

  • Develops relationships with new and existing outreach contacts including primary and secondary schools, arts high schools, and updates the database as necessary
  • Works with artistic staff and faculty to extend outreach program, coordinates master classes, and matinée program for schools
  • Coordinates and tracks graduates to assist with development of an alumni program
  • Responsible for alumni communications including, but not limited to, updating graduates on School events, performances, and coordinating alumni engagement and events
  • Supports and executes, with the Managing Director, fundraising initiatives and campaigns, including special events
  • Works closely with current students of the Professional Training Program through regular interaction and on projects

Administrative and Financial Management

  • Management and financial oversight of the School’s communications and marketing budget
  • Contributes to the School’s day-to-day operation as part of our administrative team, including shared reception duties and fielding inquiries both from students and the general public
  • Assists the Managing Director with general administrative and financial management support including, but not limited to, box office and merchandise reconciliation
  • Where appropriate, provides support and / or supervision to other staff members, student employees, and volunteers carrying out the School’s programs and initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Excellent written and oral communications with the ability to speak to a range of audiences
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage projects effectively on schedule and budget
  • Savvy with social media platforms and tools: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Hootsuite, etc.
  • Strong computer skills: proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, and email marketing platforms
  • Familiarity with CRM databases
  • Familiarity or willingness to learn about SEO/SEM, Google Adwords, Google Analytics, and other digital advancement tools
  • Flexible can-do attitude with a willingness to jump in where needed
  • Works independently while collaborating effectively with the larger team
  • French language is an asset, but not required

Additional Info:

The role is a full-time position, commensurate with experience and includes a full benefits package after a successful probation period. The position requires flexible work hours during the year, including occasional evenings and weekends.
