The School is seeking a Costume Designer & Coordinator for the 2018-19 season of the Professional Training Program which runs from September 4, 2018 to May 12, 2019. The ideal candidate would have the following attributes:

  • experience in design and construction of costumes for dance
  • good written and oral communications
  • highly organized with the ability to manage projects effectively on schedule and budget
  • strong interpersonal skills to be able to work successfully with a diverse student body and a variety of stakeholders
  • an interest in working with students in their training and education

Under the direction of the Artistic Director, and working closely with the production team, design team, and choreographers, the Costume Designer & Coordinator would have the following responsibilities:

  • provide costume design, construction, and coordination for the School’s performances
  • coordinate the wardrobe requirements and props, if applicable and appropriate, for the remounting and mounting of dance pieces with existing costumes
  • manage a modest budget for materials and labour and petty cash reconciliation
  • keep the shared wardrobe space organized and in order

Particulars of the Position:

This is a seasonal contract position for three showcases with a varied schedule. Performance dates are as follows (subject to change):

  • Impulse 2018 (November 29 – December 1, December 6- 8, 2018)
  • Acceleration 2019 (Mar 20-23)
  • Momentum 2019 (May 2-4, 9-11)

Contract Fee: $5,000
Start Date: October 2018
