Born in Tokyo, Japan, Sahara Morimoto is an independent dance artist based in Toronto. She has danced with AKA Dance, Angela Blumberg, Dreamwalker Dance Company, Antony Hamilton, Human Body Expression, inDANCE, Soft Matter, Toronto Dance Theatre, and with Peggy Baker Dance Projects, where she also was Artistic Associate from 2008-2015. She has taught dance and somatic works within Canada, Germany, Israel, and Japan. She is a graduate of Canada’s National Ballet School, and later trained at Codarts/Rotterdam Dance Academy.

As a solo artist, Morimoto commissioned Nothing III, by Noa Zuk and Ohad Fishof in 2015; the work had its Canadian premiere in February 2016. In 2017, she worked on a second commissioned solo with choreographer Marcela Giesche, during a residency at Lake Studios Berlin, with support from the Canada Council for the Arts.

Morimoto is a participant in Ilan Lev Method’s Training Course Poland, with support from the Ontario Arts Council and the Dancer Transition Resource Centre.
