The criteria upon which the Walker Wood Foundation bursaries are awarded include:
• must be a Canadian citizen
• must be in good standing with the School
• demonstrated leadership qualities
• high academic standing
• must be able to demonstrate financial need and that the receipt of this bursary will assist them in continuing their schooling

The Walker Wood bursary is a cash award of $4000 to be divided among up to four students. The two extremely deserving recipients of this year’s Walker Wood Award are – Jake Ramos and Margarita Soria.

Jake Ramos
In Jake’s application, his incredible passion for dance truly shone through his writing. He spoke from the heart. Jake is an excellent dancer who has made amazing progress in his three years at the School. He is a wonderful person with a strong moral centre. He has demonstrated commitment and dedication and shown a quiet leadership through his actions in the studio, as a staff member, and on the stage. He is a role model to other dancers through his steady determination, hard work, and perseverance. Jake has great potential for an exemplary career in dance.

Margarita Soria
Peggy’s application for the Walker Wood bursary revealed her clear thinking and investigative personality, and her articulate reflections made a very strong impression on the panel. Peggy demonstrated in her writing, as she does every day in the studio and onstage, her open-mindedness and her willingness to do anything and go anywhere. Her leadership skills are evident in her hard work, determination, and positive spirit. She has progressed incredibly over the past three years and is a truly phenomenal dancer. The panel concluded that Peggy has something “special” and has extraordinary potential for a career in dance.
