The School of Toronto Dance Theatre presents the graduating class of our three year Professional Training Program in ACCELERATION 2017 , an evening of small ensemble works.
ACCELERATION 2017 will feature a new piece by one of Canada’s most influential dancemakers, Peggy Baker, whose work is often presented by the School. The evening will also include a commission by Susie Burpee, a prominent Toronto choreographer known for her signature theatrical movement style, and a new dance by Robert Desrosiers, an internationally acclaimed choreographer of startling imagination and originality. Once again, we are reviving Paul-André Fortier’s Tell (1987), an energetic physical showcase for four male dancers and four apples, originally commissioned by Montréal Danse. The evening also features a remount of Christopher House’s demanding and extremely precise quartet Colder Ink (1994).
Join us for the chance to see tomorrow’s contemporary dancers today!
The School’s mid-season show gives graduating students valuable experience working in focused ensemble settings. By rehearsing small-cast repertory, students have the opportunity to both learn choreography and receive personal coaching that emphasizes interpretive and performance skills.
