The School of Toronto Dance Theatre presents MOMENTUM 2018, a main-stage performance of ensemble works, showcasing dancers from all three years of the Professional Training Program.

  • First year students will present new dances by two of the School’s Resident Choreographers: Darryl Tracy, who is known for his dynamic movement vocabulary and precise gestural work, and Julia Sasso, celebrated for her strikingly bold and powerful choreographic style.
  • Second year students will perform a remount of Danny Grossman’s riveting 1981 anti-war masterwork Endangered Species, as well as an energetic and highly collaborative new commission from Toronto-based independent creator Ryan Lee.
  • Third year students will dance in Christopher House’s expressive Schubert Dances (1985) and a new work by one of Canada’s most revered dancemakers, Peggy Baker, the winner of our 2017 Kathryn Ash Choreographic Commission Award. They will also perform a new creation by the prominent choreographer Harold Rhéaume, the Artistic Director of Quebec-based Le fils d’Adrien.

On May 3, 2018 join us for the Opening Night Fundraiser in support of the School. The evening begins at 6:15 pm and includes a pre-show reception, the full program of MOMENTUM 2018, along with an awards ceremony to recognize the accomplishments of our dancers, an exciting raffle and prizes, and a post-show dessert and champagne celebration.
